Your business receipts, taken care of

SlipSprout is an iPhone app for the self-employed and small companies. Take a photo of a receipt and it picks out the shop, the date, the total and the VAT for you, right there on the phone.

Coming soon to the App Store.

Take a photo, skip the typing

Choose one of the receipts below to see what SlipSprout finds on it. It looks for five things (the shop, the date, the total, the VAT and the VAT number) and scores how sure it is of each one. When it isn't sure, the receipt is still saved, just marked so you know to give it a quick check.

These receipts are made up for the demo. In the app the reading happens on your phone, so the photo isn't sent anywhere to be read.

Works with no signal

Each receipt is saved on your phone the second you take it, so it doesn't matter if you're down in a basement car park with no bars. Once there's a connection it backs itself up. And SlipSprout won't call a receipt backed up until our server has confirmed it's holding your original photo.

The original stays as you took it

Shops have been handing over paper proof of payment for centuries. The oldest of these London bills is from 1829, and you can still read every line.

Engraved bill headed with the royal coat of arms, from R, J and S Garrard of Panton Street, Haymarket, with handwritten entries for a mustard pot and a ladle, dated October 1829.
Engraved bill from S. Dixon, carver, gilder and picture frame maker of Great Portland Street, for framing a print, signed as received, 1835.
Bill from E and S R Richards, clothiers of Islington Green, listing coats and trousers in pounds, shillings and pence, with a penny receipt stamp, 1891.

Bills from R, J & S Garrard of Haymarket (1829), S. Dixon of Great Portland Street (1835) and E & S R Richards of Islington Green (1891), all in London.

Till receipts aren't so hardy. They're printed on heat sensitive paper, and the print fades. SlipSprout keeps your photo exactly as you took it, and once it's stored nobody can overwrite it from the app. So when the VAT return or an expenses claim comes round, the original is there.
